Homeschooling during quarantine
Lucy is seven years old.
She lives in America.
Mavis is also seven and she
lives in Hong Kong.
These young girls live in very different places,
but neither of them go to school!
What?! They don’t go to school?
How is that possible?
Well, right now,
1.lots of schools all over the world
are closed because
they’re trying to stay safe from the
new coronavirus.
So kids just learn at home.
This is called homeschooling,

But homeschooling doesn’t mean “no school”.
One way some kids home school is by video chatting with their teachers.

Teachers talk to students
through the computer
and help explain new things.
Then, the students study by themselves,
and maybe even send their teacher homework
through email or text messages.

Did you know some kids were homeschooling
even before everyone was worried
about the coronavirus?
In fact, 2.a lot of kids are taught at
home by their
mommies or daddies!
So moms and dads were the teachers!

But that doesn’t mean school is easier.
And even when you learn from home,
you have to read, write, and do math every day.
