E<\/span>aster<\/span>(<\/span>Easter Day, or Easter Sunday<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7bc0<\/span>) is a time of springtime festivals. In Christian countries Easter is celebrated as the religious holiday commemorating the<\/span> <\/span>death and <\/span>resurrection<\/span>(<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b<\/span>) of Jesus Christ. But the celebrations of Easter have many customs and legends.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\nT<\/span>raditions associated with the festival survive<\/span>(<\/span>\u6301\u7e8c\u6d41\u50b3<\/span>) in the Easter rabbit<\/span>(<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7bc0\u5154\u5b50\uff0c\u5b83\u6703\u5e36\u5f69\u86cb\u7d66\u4e56\u5de7\u5c0f\u5b69<\/span>), a symbol of fertility<\/span>(<\/span>\u7e41\u6b96\u529b<\/span>), and in colored Easter eggs<\/span>(<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7bc0\u5f69\u86cb<\/span>), originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg(or Easter eggs given as presents at Easter) rolling contests or given as gifts <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nT<\/span>he Christian celebration of Easter embodies<\/span>(<\/span>\u5305\u542b<\/span>) a number of converging<\/span>(<\/span>\u96c6\u5408\u5728\u4e00\u8d77<\/span>) traditions with emphasis on the relation of Easter to <\/span>the Jewish<\/span>(<\/span>\u7336\u592a\u4eba\u7684<\/span>) festival of <\/span>Passover<\/span>(<\/span>\u903e\u8d8a\u7bc0<\/span>—<\/span>\u7d00\u5ff5\u7336\u592a\u4eba\u81ea\u57c3\u53ca\u7372\u5f97\u81ea\u7531\u7684\u7bc0\u65e5<\/span>), another name used by Europeans for Easter. \nE<\/span>aster is observed<\/span>(<\/span>\u6176\u795d<\/span>)by the churches of the West on the first Sunday following the full moon that occurs on or following the spring equinox<\/span>(<\/span>\u6625\u5206<\/span>\uff0c<\/span>March 2I). So Easter became a <\/span>"movable"<\/span>(<\/span>\u53ef\u4ee5\u6539\u8b8a\u65e5\u671f\u7684<\/span>) feast which can occur as early as March 22 or as late as April 25 <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nC<\/span>hristian churches in the East which were closer to the birthplace of the new religion and in which old traditions were strong, observe Easter according to the date of the Passover festival <\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nH<\/span>oly Week<\/span>(or Passion Week<\/span>—<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7bc0\u524d\u4e00\u9031<\/span>) begins with the observance of Palm Sunday<\/span>(<\/span>\u68d5\u6a39\u4e3b\u65e5<\/span>—<\/span>\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7bc0\u524d\u7684\u79ae\u62dc\u65e5<\/span>). Palm Sunday takes its name from Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem where the crowds laid palms at his feet. Holy Thursday<\/span>(Holy Week<\/span><\/span>\u4e2d\u7684\u661f\u671f\u56db<\/span>—<\/span>\u8056\u661f\u671f\u56db<\/span>) commemorates the Last Supper<\/span>(<\/span>\u6700\u5f8c\u665a\u9910<\/span>), which was held the evening before the Crucifixion<\/span>(<\/span>\u8036\u8607\u88ab\u91d8\u6b7b\u5728\u5341\u5b57\u67b6<\/span>). Friday in Holy Week is the anniversary of the Crucifixion, the day that Christ was crucified and died on the cross.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nH<\/span>oly week and the Lenten season<\/span>(<\/span><\/span>\u56db\u65ec\u9f4b<\/span>)<\/span> end with Easter Sunday the day of <\/span>resurrection<\/span> of Jesus Christ.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
